CHI: Skybar

skybar

So I might be a teensy bit biased towards Skybar since I had my 21st birthday bash here, but this place is one of my favorite Lincoln Park watering holes.

It’s affordable and easy on IDs, but still chic enough to make you feel like you’re at a legit nightclub without paying the outrageous cover. Perfect for an unemployed journalism student like me!

The decor is definitely one of the biggest highlights of the two-story club. Staying true to its name, the place is always lit up in starry, swirly lighting and retro blue smoke. From the outside, passerbys on the N. Lincoln bar strip can view the scantily-clad Go-Go dancers gyrating through the large windows and from the inside, you can even join them on the raised stage! ;) Not exactly the classiest of Chicago dance clubs, but it’s an ideal destination for college students. It’s a favorite of DePaul and Northwestern students, so if you’re from that age group, you’re guaranteed to have a good time.

Combined with cheap drink specials (ah, memories of birthday champagne!) and upbeat top 40s music, this is the place to go if you want to fire up the dance floor. Another major plus – it’s located right opposite LP’s other favorite spot MaxBar!

Ooh, thinking about Skybar is making me crave a late night trip to Lincoln Park, especially now that the weather’s warming up…
